Hypnosis has been a part of man's experience since Eve was fashioned from Adam. It's been around a long, long time.
We all have experienced a hypnotic state, for example, when we are driving our car and missed our turn because we were "daydreaming". Hypnosis is not to be feared, but rather embraced as a natural way to invite change into our life that is positive and lasting.
Hypnosis is difficult to define because the hypnotic experience is different for everyone. That said, it is a natural state of focus and awareness, allowing hypnotic suggestions to have a positive influence on our problem-solving abilities. Hypnotherapy addresses our subconscious mind allowing new perceptions and strategies for positive change. It is something you do to yourself, for yourself, to take back your control!
The two most common questions we receive are centered around whether someone is hypnotizable and what it feels like. The truth is, we all experience hypnosis multiple times a day as a naturally occurring state, and our example of daydreaming while driving assets to that. Another example is being emotionally moved by a book you are reading or a movie you are watching. It can be argued that we go through most of our day in different types of hypnotic states. So, the answer is yes, if you are willing and capable, you are hypnotizable.
You are not asleep during hypnosis and remain conscious of your surrounds. It is a relaxed state of deep focus. You will be calm, physically and mentally relaxed. You may experience different physical and emotional sensations, but you always remain in absolute control of your body.
